ROAR Super Nationals Wrap-up

Well, 8 days of racing are over, beginning August 11th and finishing up Saturday August 18th. It was nice that ROAR cut the program by one day and finished Saturday, which gave everyone Sunday to relax.

The 1/10 electric didn’t go so well for Cody, as he only practiced for one week before the race, and he had some nitro races to attend. This disrupted our intense practice schedule. He ended up in the lower mains and raced fairly well. Ryan Cavalieri put on a clinic, as he TQd everything and won all 3 classes. Even more impressive, he only needed to run 2 of the triple A mains in all three classes, so everything was wrapped up after the A2s were over. That is an impressive feat considering the depth of the talent pool these days. On the other hand, this is the exact kind of racing he cut his teeth on, and this is the same conditions he spent years chasing down Brian Kinwald on, as that baton was passed years ago. It makes good sense Ryan would race well on this surface. On a positive note for Kyosho, Jared was really fast with the new RB6.

In Short Course and 1/8 electric were the second part of the program, and Cody managed to put his car in both A mains. This was more difficult than anticipated as the indoor electric guys were really fast. Seems like Cody was chasing set-up a lot, and really got the short course truck working well in A2. A little more rear toe in and some minor adjustment to rear roll center resulted in some much needed rear traction. In 1/8 electric, we put too much buggy grip on the tires, and the tires were bald at the end of A3, which didn’t help matters.

Here are the A2 results from each class:

Congratulations to Proline for the great debut of the Ion tire, and Team Orion as well on the dominating results across the board. Now the electric stuff is over, bring on the nitro! Gearing up for the Worlds warm-up in Argentina.
